Meeting of May 8th 2012

President Katelyn Charlton called the meeting to order @ 2:24.
Order of Business:

• Service Hour forms--please turn in ASAP! School is almost over! Seniors, turn these in to get your graduation stolls!!
• Vice President Sophiw Custis showed a powerpoint presentation on what our NHS Chapter does as a group, in and out of school. If you think NHS never does anything or never gets involved you are wrong! This year, through our organization, we have offered over 15 service opportunities. Some even occur weekly (like tutoring).
• Go to the Service Opp. Board in the library by the glass display case to find out more....
• Treasurer Samantha Sirk planned a fundraiser with her committee!! Help raise Breast Cancer awareness by donating any kind of pocket change. The class that has the most change raised will have a sponsored male teacher wear a dress for a day!! :D  This fundraiser ends Monday May 14th.
• JDRF Walk:  Members PLEASE HELP HOSA PLAN/ORGANIZE/RUN THIS WALK. We want to be able to hold our own Alzheimer's walk in the very near future!! It is held May 19th from 1-6 pm. See HOSA for more details!!

Additionally, we have next year's new officers!!! Say congrats too..........................

There will be a mandatory old/new officer's meeting next Tuesday May 20th to prepare next year's NHS organization. Stay excellent!

NHS Meeting Thursday February 9, 2012

A. Motion To Start

• Motion to spend no more than $300 on Graduation stoles made by Ryan with Austin to second
• Motion to spend no more than $400 for T-Shirts made by Austin with Ryan to second

• Alzheimer's walk second date- April 21, 28,  May 5,

2. Motion to have walk April 21- megan, second laura
3. Volunteering

• Volunteer at food bank, tutoring in cafeteria,

• Math class tutoring  Tues and Thurs.

• Sign up for NHS  tutoring
• Mountain View Elem. also needs tutoring. See Mrs. Russell for details.

4. Additional News-

• Highway cleanup from 11 am to about 3:00 p.m. on 02/11/12

• Stay after meeting for safety video.

• Future freshman night- NHS members to set up a table for the society.

• We need a person who has been in NHS for a while, as well as a few others to represent. Feb 22 from 6:00 to 7.

• Read across America at Coyote Springs- need people who drive, sign an in- district travel waiver. They need peoplel in teams of two, spaced out so you dont miss a lot of school.
• Alz. Committees are soon to be posted on the blog. 
• Next meeting is two weeks from now on Monday.

Everyone needs to remember to pay their dues to Ms. Russell! They need to be paid by the end of November. If you don't pay them, we cannot get our t-shirts.
