put it on your calender and BE THERE! If you know that you are going
to miss a meeting then please check the blog the next day and tell your
friends to do the same. If you would like to sign up for anything then stop

  • Dues are due (no pun intended) before winter break; they are $5 for Sophomores and Juniors and $15 for all Seniors. This is because we have a national due that we have to pay and the Seniors, with their $15 are paying for their stolls (sp?) and sashes.

  • Speaking of Service Hours.... We have the following options available:
    • Valley of Lights was today, Wednesday the 10th, after school until whenever you needed to leave.
    • You can tutor at study hall after school on Wednesdays; show up and talk to the adult supervisor, they will give you a sign in and name tag.

NHS Meeting: Wednesday, 20 Oct 2010

Next off, we would like to talk about  3 main volunteer commitments NHS has planned for this upcoming year.
  • As you know, school is not always easy for everyone, like it is for yourselves. Therefore NHS is offering Wednesday tutoring for students struggling in a specific subject.
  • NHS will also continue their involvement with the running and teaching of after school clubs at Coyote Springs Elementary School.
  • NHS will also be including Granville Elementary School this year, so if you have a talent, we need your help teaching the little ones in our district.
Participation in at least one of these volunteer projects is required for all members in NHS. (We know you're busy, but we need to contribute to helping out our school and after all this is a club.)

Also, we need volunteers to help set up the Valley of Lights at Fain Park on November 6th. More info will follow at the next meeting November 3rd after school.

ALL members need to be sure to pay your dues! Old/New Members - $5 ; Seniors $15

NHS Newsletter

Q- What do you get when you play a country song backward?

A- You get your wife back, you get your dog back, and your truck is fixed.

So now that we have a terrible joke aside, we need to cover a couple of things.

NHS needs people who are interested in teaching to cute little children after school. Classes will be taught at Coyote Springs and Granville Elementary School. These people who are interested need to go see Welsh ASAP, which means right after you’re done reading this, go see Welsh. Do not let the cute little children down.

Everyone else who doesn’t apply to the category above, MUST sign up for tutoring at our school on Wednesdays. NHS has been asked by administration to help with tutoring and it is something that we have to do, so quit being slackers. There is a sign up in Welsh’s room with a lot of dates to fill, so go do it.

Next Wednesday there is an open house and we need a handful of kids to help at this. Please see Welsh if you can.

Finally, there is a hippie fest (Raw Spirit Festival) that could use help. If you are interested in helping with this one, see our activities coordinator, Logan. He will be very happy to see you and will coordinate your activities.

Just remember that NHS is a volunteer organization, which entails and requires you to volunteer for NHS in some manner. These volunteer activities might not interest you but you need volunteer hours, so you are going to have to do it anyway.

Until Next Time
